Greater Tuna

by Ed Howard, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams, directed by Dr. David M. White

Greater Tuna is the hilarious comedy about Tuna, Texas's third smallest town, and the upstanding citizens who call it home. Tour-de-force performances by Matt Salzburg and Jean Tartiere bring this eclectic band of characters to life as they wrestle with small town life the Tuna way, because the more things change everywhere else, the more Tuna stays the same.

Crimes of the Heart

by Beth Henley, directed by Dr. Cat Gleason

This darkly comic Pulitzer Prize winning play by Beth Henley overflows with offbeat wit and high spirits. After nearly a decade apart, the three Magrath sisters gather in Old Grandaddy’s kitchen in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. Her two beautiful and impulsive younger sisters, Meg and Babe, have always outshined lovelorn Lenny, but now, with Meg’s failed singing career and Babe’s failed marriage, the three sisters will have to face their troubled family history and another very bad day.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

by Laura Eason, from the novel by Mark Twain, directed by Dr. Matt Saltzberg

Join Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Becky Thatcher in the greatest summer adventure ever told in this imaginative, highly theatrical, music-filled adaptation of Mark Twain’s incomparable classic. Featuring the thrill of mischief-making, the fickleness of first love, the cold shivers that linger after an adventure gone wrong, and the unbridled joy at discovering real buried treasure, this story is for anyone who has ever been a kid and celebrates all that is glorious about childhood.

July 15th - July 24th, Rhynsburger Theater
7:30 pm: July 15, 16, 21, 23
2:00 pm: July 17, 20, 24

Comedies in Concert

In this madcap original series, Mizzou actors, directors, and playwrights read, rehearse and stage a performance in less than 8 hours. Can they do it? Without losing lines, props, costume pieces, and their minds?! This year, we feature two new comedies: on June 14th, David and Meg Phillip Crespy’s new children’s musical play The Zenith Escape, follows the adventures of screen addicts Hank & Cici Hunter as they save their Mom from the evil game show host. And on July 5th, The Rat Trap by Chad Parmenter, a wacky parody of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, with an evening of revenge, mayhem, and…murder.
